Our performance Mirad, a boy from Bosnia is a family story of trauma processing with a Balkan mentality and music. An honest and harrowing story of two young adults whose lives and relationships were completely rewritten by war and a young boy who lost his home, identity and future between two battlefields, while fleeing. For just over an hour, viewers become friends of the Balic family, learn about their history, their traditions and their life's journey, and gain an insight into their life in Sarajevo.
The subject matter is far from the only thing that promises to make this performance of Offenbach's last work for the stage so fantastic, as we will get to hear some wonderful singers when Bartlett Sher's captivating 2009 production of Tales of Hoffmann returns to the Met's series of HD transmissions.
