A dokumentumfilm feleleveníti Callas életét, s ehhez az operaénekes saját hangját és szavait hívja segítségül: a film archív felvételeken, interjúkon, leveleken és operarészleteken keresztül mutatja be a kivételes tehetségű művészt. Ezekből ismerheti meg a közönség a görög bevándorlók gyermekeként New York-ban születő Maria Callas pályafutását a kezdeti nehézségektől a szupersztárrá válásig.
