comedy in three acts
It is probably impossible to summarize this miraculous story of Mowgli, Bagheera who escaped from the cage of the human society, the wise Baloo, the mysterious Kaa or the vengeful Shere Khan. The Jungle Book is about birth and death, solitude and partnership, about the magic of youth – so everything which can happen with a kid who had grown up with wolves.

The story is familiar. The destitute denizens of a tucked-away village dream of a better life. They are amazed by the sudden arrival of a stranger, who boasts of murdering his own father. Synge\'s humour and naive spirit of storytelling elevate his work to among the finest of stage plays. Péter Rudolf brings this piece to the Pesti Theatre stage.
“I really enjoy writing it, although I break the rules of the stage very often. Comedy with three female and six male characters, four acts, a landscape (view of the lake); lot of conversations about literature, barely any action, five poods of love” – wrote Chekhov in one of his letters about The Seagull.
Argan a wealthy Parisian cares only about his imaginary diseases. This mania makes him selfish and tyrant. He believes only in medicine, pills, treatments – and in his young wife. Everybody who doubts or disagrees becomes an enemy in Argan’s eyes. That’s why he chooses a doctor for his daughter, Angelique, as well. But Angelique’s heart is already engaged…
A marriage is falling apart, a family is in ruins, but cat-like Maggie is still clinging to the hope that everything can be put right, that she and her disillusioned husband might be able to find their way back to love and happiness. Maggie will do anything for her marriage: whether it's on the back of ice or a hot tin roof…
